Description

1971 D WASHINGTON QUARTER MISSING CLAD OBVERSE WITH REVERSE ERROR.
Defective clad layer on the obverse.  The area directly to the right of 'L' in Liberty is also raised.
The reverse may be a strike through, a die clash, or possible plating error.  It begins on the left side (directly under the corresponding location of the Missing Clad error on the obverse) and continues across the front of the eagle the entire diameter.  Held at an angle, the top half of the coin has a different appearance than the lower half. The error is stamped 'into' the coin from the die strike.  You can see it most clearly on the left side and it is very easy to see without magnification. The lower half of the coin, under the error, transitions downward, like walking downhill, into the upper half.  See pictures 4,5,6.  There is light doubling on a few letters and the right side of the eagles wing.  Shipped with USPS First Class, US ONLY.
